Our last membership meeting was on Thursday, August 25th at 7pm via Zoom.
Here is a short summary:
Vote411 invitation have gone out to all candidates for whom we have e-mail addresses. The Vote411 committee will be working on contacting folks to obtain missing e-mails so we can invitations to them. We plan to publish all responses received on or about September 11th but candidates can still respond any time after that.
Thanks to all League members who volunteered to be observers at the Macomb County Board of Canvassers meetings for the August 2nd primary election. As reported by the volunteers the process went very smoothly and everyone learned a lot. We do expect to be asked by the State League to participate in the process for the November 8th general election.
Eastpointe High School has received out to us to conduct a voter registration event the first week in October. Deb G will be coordinating that event and an e-mail will go out for volunteers.
Since it looks likely that the Promote the Vote ballot proposal will be on the November ballot the State League is working with the PTV folks to create some educational materials and we expect to conduct at least one town hall event this fall.
We have been asked to conduct a candidate forum for the Clintondale School Board elections. Kathy P is looking in venue and recording possibilities and if those seem promising, we will likely go ahead with the forum. We also received a request for assistance with a candidate forum in Algonac. We plan to check into what type of assistance they need.
We will have tables at the following events so if you’re available to help we’d appreciate it:
Tara’s Walk – September 24th, Freedom Hill Ampitheater in Sterling Heights, 9-1
Domestic Violence Awareness Month Event – October 15th, Turning Point Offices, Mt Clemens, 12-3
Our next monthly meeting is September 22nd at 7pm and will likely be a hybrid in-person/Zoom call so stay tuned!
